MIami FAQ

How do I stop noise from the unit above my Miami condo?

Stopping noise from above requires addressing Impact Insulation Class (IIC). Most Miami condos consist of tile or hardwood directly on concrete slabs, which transfers footfall vibrations into your space. We solve this by installing engineered ceiling decoupling systems that physically disconnect your ceiling from the building’s structure, effectively breaking the vibration path before it becomes audible noise in your home.

Do you provide soundproofing for new builds in South Florida?

Yes. This is actually our most recommended service. We partner with architects and general contractors during the blueprint phase to integrate building science into the framing of your home. By installing dense-pack cellulose and structural isolation clips before the drywall goes up, among many other acoustic products, we ensure your master suite or home theatre is a permanent sanctuary of silence.

How does the Miami building code affect my soundproofing options?

The Florida building code sets minimum requirements for STC (Sound Transmission Class) and IIC (Impact Insulation Class) in multi-family dwellings. However, these “bare minimums” often still allow for significant noise transfer. We design assemblies that exceed code requirements to provide the high-level of privacy and comfort expected in residential properties.

Why didn't my previous renovation stop the noise?

Most renovations fail because they address the surface rather than the flanking paths. Also, the building code sets bare minimum requirements. Noise is like water; it finds the path of least resistance. If your previous contractor didn’t address common noise leaks like electrical outlets, recessed lighting, or structural bridges (shared studs), or afterwards simply installed “soundproof” panels to fix your noise complaint, these are just a few reasons why your renovation may have poor sound comfort. We use acoustic-rated products and experience-led acoustic assessments to map these paths and seal them at the source.

What is the difference between acoustic panels and structural soundproofing?

This is a critical distinction.

Acoustic panels absorb internal echo (reverberation) to make a room sound better inside; they do not block noise from entering or leaving.

Structural soundproofing (isolation) involves changing the density and connection of your walls and ceilings to physically block sound transmission; stopping the noise before it reaches your ears.

Why can I hear every footstep coming from upstairs?

An empty wooden cavity between studs or joists acts like a drum, amplifying sounds and vibrations and making noise louder. This is because wood is rigid and carries vibrations, so footsteps create impact noises that travel through floors. To stop noise from moving through your structure, we add dense insulation and isolation layers.

What are some effective ways to block bass noise?

Bass noise requires heavy layers and isolation to prevent vibration. Our assemblies feature vibration isolation systems to reduce rumbling and shaking caused by musical instruments, home theatre surround sound systems, and other sources.

All low frequencies below 125 Hz are bass sounds. They act as impact noises and create structure-borne noise.

Do you work with homeowners associations (HOA's) and condo boards?

Absolutely. We understand the strict regulations and our constraints involved in Miami developments. If required, Inaudible LLC provides full submittal packages, including material safety data and assembly breakdowns, to ensure your project receives board approval and meets all community standards for professional execution.

How much does professional soundproofing cost in greater Miami?

Because every property has a unique, structural noise path, we provide tailored scoped options rather than flat-rate pricing. Cost are determined by the desired performance level, the building type, and the square footage involved. Typically our services start at $3500. During our strategy session, we provide “Good, Better, Best” options so you can choose the level of sound attenuation that fits your lifestyle and budget.

How long does a typical residential installation take?

A typical room specific treatment (such as a master bedroom or home office) generally takes between 5 to 10 business days. For whole-home new builds or complex commercial projects, we coordinate with your general contractor’s timeline to ensure our installation happens seamlessly during the framing and insulation phases.

Do you offer soundproofing for medical offices and law firms?

Yes. Speech privacy is a cornerstone of our commercial division. We design high STC wall, assemblies, and seal treatments for a medical clinics (HIPAA compliance) and law firms to ensure sensitive conversations remain strictly confidential within the boardroom or exam room.
